The CHLI Global Leaders Congressional Internship Program enables a number of outstanding young Americans with a strong interest in the U.S. Hispanic community to expand their professional horizons and enhance their understanding of government and business by conducting policy and business oriented research and related professional activities in Washington, D.C. for an academic semester.
The program provides qualified undergraduate and graduate students with an opportunity to spend 15 weeks in the fall or spring semester working closely with Congress in Washington, D.C. Students will also take classes on applied politics at The George Washington University for which they can receive up to six academic credit hours. CHLI Global Leaders Interns will also perform project-focused assignments that provide hands-on experience and enhance their education.
Compensation includes: Round-trip airfare to Washington, D.C., housing, local transportation, stipend for living expenses, and enrollment in the Semester in Washington Program at The George Washington University (up to six academic credit hours). The duration of the program runs alongside the academic semester. The tentative dates for Fall 2011 run from August 29th through December 21st.

Interns and fellows will work at their designated workplace for four and a half days a week, Monday through Friday. Friday mornings will be reserved for planned CHLI events, research, and mentoring/career counseling. Undergraduate students will be required to submit a 10-15 page public policy paper which will be included in a special CHLI publication at the conclusion of the program. Graduate students will be required to submit a 25-30 page public policy paper and will present their findings at a CHLI forum to be determined. Graduate students will also have the opportunity to be published in a special CHLI publication.

CHLI-Tuck Business Bridge Program

The CHLI-Tuck Business Bridge Program allows outstanding Hispanic undergraduate students to apply for a four-week career focused fast track to mastery of business essentials at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. The Tuck Business Bridge Program is designed for non-business majors and is open to sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent graduates of arts and sciences colleges (only from Spring 2010 to present). The program will run from July 18th-August 12th.
Students who are selected for the program will participate in a rigorous integrated curriculum that includes: business essentials such as corporate finance, financial accounting, managerial economics, marketing, management communication, spreadsheet modeling, decision making, problem solving, and presentation skills teamwork and leadership training emphasizing an intensive company-valuation project that culminates in presentations to industry executives and faculty career guidance including coaching in interview techniques, networking skills, and resume preparation, all leading to various networking opportunities and a daylong CareerBridge event
